ELDERS (Elsewhere) Idyll and friction in the landscape, 2010

Sint-Michielsgestel, North-Brabant (18 June to 5 September)
An initiative of the Dommel in Beeld Foundation

Billboard route with the work of 20 Dutch and foreign photographers. In these photographic landscapes – often from foreign countries, from elsewhere – idyll or friction are central. By placing them, greatly enlarged, at strategic locations in the local Brabant landscape - a ‘constructed’ landscape that is constantly changing – we zoomed in on dreams or the disturbance of dreams of the untouched or ideal landscape. In addition to the billboard route all residents of the municipality were actively involved in the subject matter of the route through participatory projects. An educational project for all schools in Sint-Michielsgestel, a magazine distributed door to door and a catalogue created a broad basis in the entire municipality.
