In addition to my immediate work as a visual artist, initiating and organizing art projects has attracted me since my time at art school – or rather, even during my time at art school. Maybe my past as a social worker has something to do with this: I cannot help but communicate what I find valuable; this in combination with my love for nature… Fact is that this has led to several interesting projects in the public space. After ‘Burchtbeelden in Bronckhorst’ (Castle Sculptures in Bronckhorst, my first experience as an initiator and organizer) the Dommel in Beeld foundation was founded, through which I organized the successful projects ‘Te mooi om waar te zijn’ (Too Good to Be True) and ‘ELDERS’ (Elsewhere) together with Fieke Barten and Marc Volger. More recently, the Foreign Artfairs foundation was founded to facilitate the artists’ exchange project ‘ArtSwap’. For ‘Paradijs op de grens’ (Paradise on the Border) and ‘Met het oog op Den Dungen (With an Eye toward Den Dungen), my role was mainly an advisory one.
